Dear Friends and Sponsors of Teach Feed Love,

What a summer! We arrived back in the DR in mid-July, and the very next day hosted our first team from North Carolina, promoting Junior Bible Quiz. In August we had children’s pastors from South Carolina teaching about children’s ministry. We visited 7 churches, hosted a 3-day camp for our La Vega Christian School staff kids, and a training day for the Haitian pastors and teachers, with 100 in attendance! Our Dominican school started classes with over 300 students on August 21. This week our Haitian schools are starting classes.

We are so grateful for your support over the summer. We pay our teachers and other staff all year. They have been busy with training sessions and summer school. This past Saturday we had our directors’ meeting, where we learned about the new way to report to Convoy of Hope. I hope all the directors are up to reporting digitally! We were able to have the Junior Bible Quiz translated into Haitian Creole! The directors are excited about promoting Bible learning and memorization with their students. We also hope to have their cooperation for more and better communication with the sponsors. We were able to give school supplies to all the directors, and in the next few weeks, we will be distributing over 300 pairs of shoes that a supporter on Long Island, NY sent us, along with more supplies for the children.

Below you can see some photos of the August training session, including the art class and the big clothes giveaway. We had a powerful time of prayer and worship, too. The students in the yellow shirts are from Rose of Sharon. The children in blue shirts are from the school in Moca. The first week only a few kids come, but by next week most of the students will be present. We were able to help the pastor rent the house behind the church, so now they have classrooms and more space to play, rather than all together in the small sanctuary.

My main helper and supervisor, Rutherford, has all three of his girls in LVCS this year. In the last photos you can see the four classrooms we are adding to Alex’s school in Sabaneta. Behind it is the house we are building for him and his family. He has started another church and school in Las Yayas, which we will support and supervise this year. The last photo is from Saturday’s meeting with the directors. We prayed and thanked God for you, our sponsors and supporters.

We have some special needs, such as more chairs for the schools In Ranchito, Rancho Viejo and El Pino, plus tables for Villa Tapia, El Pino and Rose of Sharon.  Some schools will be adding teachers this year, so our budget will increase. THANK YOU VERY MUCH for your offerings. We are so blessed to be able to help these hardworking pastors, directors, teachers, and the precious children.

As always, you can give directly on our website, TeachFeedLove.org, or send a check made out to TeachFeedLove  to TMCI, PO BOX 1761, Columbia, SC 29202. Sponsorship is only $25 a month.  God bless you and a happy new school year to you and your family!

Your missionaries,

Debbie and Mitch Martinez
