As I look over the photos of our students and schools this month, one word jumps out.
JOY!
Our Haitian families in the Dominican Republic face many hardships:
Poverty, lack of work, sickness, scarce medical care, persecution, the fear and reality of deportation, frustration over their government, waiting on passports and visas, and just constant insecurity.
Children surely hear their parents talking about such things. I wonder how much it worries them. But, thank God, they have a safe place – school. There they find friends, inspiring pastors and teachers, good food, fun and a focus on learning. They have hope for the future.

God bless you, and thank you for praying. I have a special prayer request for my helper, Frantzou Avril. He was able to get a visa to the US, where he is staying with his uncle in Pennsylvania. He left his wife with a new baby and 5 other children. Pray he is able to get a good job soon and the family can be reunited. And thank you for praying for us.
